Punjab govt to take action against DC’s for complaining to CEC: report

The Punjab government is likely to take disciplinary action against the two deputy commissioners (DCs) for violating business rules and writing letters to the chief election commissioner (CEC) complaining about political meddling in official affairs.

Moreover, according to a local media report, the officers released the letters to the media as well. The Punjab government has received an inquiry report into Chakwal DC’s letter to the CEC, Supreme Court and the chief secretary about the alleged interference from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA. Now the government is waiting for the report about a similar act by the Rajanpur DC.

Furthermore, the report stated that until a “formal policy is devised, any order of transfer and posting would be considered “picking and choosing” and warrant a justification”.
