OKARA: Taking a historic step, a transgender candidate decided to contest in 2018 general elections for National Assembly seat from Okara.
Nayyab Ali, who is an active member of All Pakistan Transgender Election Network in Punjab and running a four-month literacy programme for transgenders in the city, has taken the decision to contest from the NA-144 constituency.
In an interview, Ali shared her life story that how life knocked her down several times but she never loses the courage. She is confident she will emerge as victorious.
“I have already started my election campaign on social media and will soon get in touch with gurus and my community in this regard,” said Ali, adding unlike her political opponents, she is not financially strong and cannot buy votes but she is confident that social work, she has been doing will win her the seat.
On her social media account, she shared the poster of her candidacy as MNA for the upcoming elections.
