Gilgit resident Syed Alam Khan had moved to Bassal to harvest wheat as an agricultural labourer and married another woman while he was there.
He was asleep in his room Wednesday morning when he was allegedly attacked by his first wife, who was overpowered and handed over to the police, leaving Mr Khan critically injured.
The Bassal police have registered a case against the suspect.
