KARACHI: A couple in Korangi No. 3 1/2 of the metropolitan locality was murdered before the fire broke out, police claimed on Thursday.
Earlier, the initial reports by rescue officials and police suggested that couple died due to inhalation of smoke. The fire also destroyed everything in the house.
The residents of the area, however, claimed that the couple did not die because of fire rather they were murdered.
Talking to media, Mahsood Khan, a relative of Shahid, claimed that the couple was murdered and their cause of death was not fire. “Both were found with their neck slashed with a sharp object and all their valuables were also missing from the house,” Mahsood added.
The deceased couple has been identified as Shahid and Shamim.
The police have sent the bodies for medico-legal formalities as further investigations are underway.
