LAHORE: As part of Tax Day celebrations, Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) organised a panel discussion on the topic “A Taxpaying woman is more vocal and guardian of her rights” at KC University. The discussion panelist included Dr Mira Phailbus, TAAP Chairperson Nishat Mummunka, writer Faiqa Mansab, digital rights activist Nighat Dad, model Mehreen Syed and Cultural Heritage Management Plans Lead Consultant Feryal Ali Gohar. The focus of the discussion was to shed light on the importance of taxation in creating a balanced society and the role of the woman in developing the tax culture in the society. The discussion was a part of 10-day long Tax Day annual celebrations.
PRA Chairperson Dr Raheal Ahmed Siddiqui, in his opening remarks, praised the way women had been working in the society and said that their presence in the tax net had not only contributed in increasing the tax revenue but had also put extensive responsibility on the society to deliver on issues related to women.
The panel discussion was moderated by Feryal Ali Gohar and she shared her experiences and achievements with the audience. Dr Mira Phailbus appreciated the role of woman entrepreneurs and stressed upon the importance of taxes as catalyst to growth. Nishat Mammunka encouraged the audience to pay taxes and at the same time asked them to be vigilant of the government’s spending of their taxes.
