PU administration reinstates admission of 17 involved in student clashes: report

LAHORE: The Punjab University Discipline Committee on Tuesday restored admission of 17 students – 13 from the Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) and four others from Pakhtun and Baloch councils who had clashed over holding an event in January, according to a report by a private media outlet.

The university had registered cases under terrorism charges against the students which were latter quashed on the intervention of the Balochistan government.

The discipline committee had expelled 17 students from both organisations from the university, however, student organisations continued to protest against the action and installed camp outside the vice-chancellor office for five days.

The students’ demands were then settled by the discipline committee.
