KP govt seeks Punjab’s assistance to set up Violence Against Women Centre

LAHORE: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has written to Punjab seeking assistance in establishing Violence against Women Centre.

The Punjab government tweeted a letter sent by KP government that stated: “Government of Punjab is pleased to receive this letter from the government of KP in which it had sought assistance in establishing Violence Against Women Centre. We have already shared the plans. Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has further directed @smucmo to assist KP in the implementation of the said centre as well.”

The letter sent by WE section officer of KP to senior programme officer of Punjab sought a copy of PC-1 of Violence Against Women Centre, Multan from Punjab government as KP government is planning to establish a centre on the same pattern.

In March 2017, first ever Violence Against Women Centre was established in Multan to counter prosecution against women in the province.
