International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed

ISLAMABAD: The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed across the globe, including Pakistan, on Sunday to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society, and to increase awareness about persons with disabilities belonging to political, social, economic and cultural spheres of life.

The theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Transformation Towards a Sustainable and Resilient Society for All’.

In this connection, many organisations in the country, including Directorate General of Special Education and Government of Pakistan, organised different programmes in the country. Since 1992, the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) had been celebrated annually on December 3 around the world.
