PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said Tuesday that provision of quality education is of paramount importance for the development of society.
The governor was talking to a teachers’ delegation of Roots Millennium School, led by Principal Tehmina Khalid, that called on him at the Governor House.
He underscored the need to bring improvement in the education system to cater to the requirements of the modern era, saying that the government was taking concrete measures regarding provision of education on priority basis.
Jhagra also said that students were the most precious assets who could play an effective role in the development and prosperity of the country. He directed the teachers to concentrate on character building and education of students by preparing them for modern social challenges.
Governor Jhagra further said that it was the responsibility of educational institutes to involve students in co-curricular activities to help them lead active lifestyles. He said that a country could not make progress without promotion of quality education, while adding that great responsibility rested on the shoulders of teachers and academicians to focus on provision of quality education to students to enable them to face the world with renewed confidence.
