QUETTA: A session judge on Monday charged Balochistan MPA Abdul Majeed Achakzai in the hit-and-run case which killed a traffic cop on duty.
In a video that went viral, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party MPA Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai was seen in the driving seat of a speeding vehicle along GPO Chowk intersection when it ran over a traffic cop named Haji Ataullah.
The traffic sub-inspector succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
In Monday’s hearing, Achakzai appeared before the court where he refused to accept the charges against him. In its next hearing, the court has directed the witnesses to appear as well.
The police had initially registered a criminal case at the Civil Lines Police Station against unidentified persons. However, after the video showing Achakzai in the driving seat which went viral on social media, Achakzai was subsequently arrested.
