Power outages continue during Sehr, Iftar

KARACHI: Many areas of Karachi continue to face power disruptions during Sehri and Iftari timings.

The areas which face power disruptions include Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Askari-4, New Karachi, North Karachi, Safoora, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Model Colony and Gulzar-e-Hijri.

The citizens, residing in these areas, had no alternative but to do Sehri and Iftari in darkness.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the K-Electric claimed that no load shedding was being carried out in residential areas during Sehri timings. He said that the masses were being given relief during Iftar.

Water board spokesperson has also expressed surprise over the K-Electric’s claim of no load shedding and said that on Monday, though, the load shedding was not as frequent as the days before but due to outages the provision of water was 60 million gallon less.

The spokesperson said that the pumping stations are located in the various areas of the city so they too suffer from load shedding along with the areas.

The pumping stations at some of the localities witnessed 14 to 18 hours load shedding making it impossible for the water board to provide sufficient water.

It is pertinent to mention here that many areas of the metropolis are facing power crisis in the holy month of Ramzan and power outages continue to hit the city during Sehr and Iftar.
