PEMRA chairman contempt of court case: IHC adjourns hearing till May 16

The Islamabad High court (IHC), while ordering the PEMRA director general to file a copy of the transcript of the press conference within 3 days in contempt of court case has adjourned the hearing of the case till May 16.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.

During the course of hearing, the petitioner, IHC Bar Association former Secretary Waqas Malik appeared in front of the court and took the plea that the chairman during a press conference had levelled allegations against the superior courts and this way he had committed contempt of court.

The chairman of PEMRA had said in press conference that courts were doing the job of PEMRA, he added. The petitioner prayed that a treason case should be registered against the PEMRA chairman for making such comments against the IHC.
