Govt should take steps to address grievances of Sindhis: Khursheed Shah

Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his government should take steps to remove grievances of people of Sindh otherwise he would have to suffer in the upcoming general election.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with Bari Mela here on Sunday, he said that agriculture was the backbone of the country’s economy but the government has always neglected the agriculture sector.

He said that the farmers produce wheat and other crops for over 210 million countrymen but no heed was paid to remove the grievances of the poor growers.

He said that the federal government made announcement several times regarding facilitating the farmer community but no steps were taken to implement the announcements and government disowns the agriculture sector.

Shah claimed that the Opposition was struggling for amendments in the agriculture sector and providing relief to growers so that they could work with more commitment and dedication to produce additional crops for supporting the country’s economy through their export.

He said that taxes were imposed on common man but influential and elites don’t pay a single penny.
