KARACHI: Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) Karachi is set to launch new degree programmes, MAJU President Prof Dr Zubair Shaikh said here on Tuesday.
He expressed satisfaction over the steps taken for the overall improvement in education standard and launching of new degree programmes.
It was hoped that MAJU will be considered one the best universities in this region soon.
Dr Zubair was addressing a meeting of the Board of Advance Studies and Research (BASR) held under his chairmanship.
Those who participated in the meeting included Dr Asim Imdad, Dr Shujaat Mubarak, DrSyed Imran Jami, Dr Kashif Ishaque, Dr Munir Hussain, Dr Kalil-ur- Rehman Razi, Dr Ghazanfar Munir, Dr Shoukat Wasi, Dr Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Dr Ahmed Ali Shah and Dr Haji Khan Soomro.
The associate deans, Research and Academics directors, QEC, ORICS, and heads of Computers, Engineering, Business Administration and Management Sciences departments attended the meeting.
Dr Zubair said that he is also very glad to see the increase in research activities here which was evident from the receipt of a large number of admission applications for PhD programmes.
He asked the faculty members of the university to strictly follow directives given by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) regarding PhD programmes and no relaxation be given to any applicant in any way.
Dr Zubair also asked to avoid unnecessary paperwork during research activities and to give due attention to the use of internet and e- documentation in this regard.
He said that it was the prime responsibility of the supervisors of research work to be cautious in respect of copying and cheating for the preparation of research reports by their students.
