Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Sunday and exchanged words on the progress of different development projects and particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Talking to the federal minister, the chief minister said that the CPEC had laid the foundation for Pakistan’s fast-track progress and development. The CPEC is a game-changer and once completed it will change the destiny of the entire region, he claimed. The chief minister said that under the CPEC, different development projects are being completed on a fast track basis. China is making a historical investment of $ 51 billion in Pakistan and billions more will be added to this investment.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the Sahiwal coal fired power plant project was being completed as soon as possible. This 1320 Megawatt project will be completed before the designated time period of December 2017, he claimed.
The chief minister said that the CPEC had opened the doors for foreign investment and that the already made investment had paved the way for innumerable job opportunities in the country. Shehbaz Sharif said that the CPEC will also play an important role in eliminating terrorism and reducing poverty from the region.
