KARACHI: A large stash of weapons was recovered by the security forces from a house in the Azizabad area of Karachi on Friday.
The weapons were hidden behind the wall of a house owned by a Muhammad Amir, located near Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall. According to rangers officials, 20 sub-machine guns, two light machine guns, G3 and 7mm guns, three sniper rifles, two 20-bore pistols, 10 bulletproof jackets and over 10,000 bullets of different types were discovered and taken into custody.
Additional Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Mahar said that the weapons were registered under the ownership of people residing in London and South Africa, and that it was suspected that they had been accumulated by MQM London for use in terrorist activities.
The raid had been conducted after the rangers were tipped off but no arrests had been up until the filing of this report.
