The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has decided to register all barbers, hair dressers, and beauticians in Punjab.
The decision was made in a joint meeting with the Punjab AIDS Control Program and Punjab Hepatitis Control Program on Tuesday.
Biometric registration of barbers and hairdressers will be carried out across the province after an initial pilot project being conducted in Lahore.
The department will also provide free hepatitis B vaccinations to all registered staff at appointed outlets. Following the registration, a mass awareness program will also be conducted.
The All Pakistan Hairdressers and Beauticians Association has already assured full support to the two programs for the initiative. The project will be carried out jointly by the Punjab AIDS Control and the Punjab Hepatitis Control Program.
