The Punjab government dissolved the board of directors of all waste management companies in the province on Monday with immediate effect.
According to the notification available with Pakistan Today, the boards of all waste management companies in the province were dissolved as a consequence of the Punjab Local Government Act-2013 in order to constitute new boards.
The companies include the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and six others from Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Multan and Bahawalpur.
All concerned deputy commissioners have been directed to provide fresh nominations for prospective board members within three days while keeping in view the required 33% women’s quota.
Copies of the notification were forwarded to all the respective managing directors and deputy commissioners of the 7 cities.
This is the third time in the last year that the board of directors of the LWMC has been dissolved, and the second time for the other companies.
Insiders told the correspondent that the boards were dissolved based on the suggestions of the mayors of the respective cities.
