KARACHI: Korangi District Municipal Corporation (DMC) on Friday launched a plantation campaign with equal attention towards protection of trees, shrubs and green spaces in the area.
DMC Chairman Syed Naiyar Raza formally inaugurated the campaign in Malir, Model Colony Zone. He warned of stringent action against those who indulged in destruction of greenery in the district. He announced that no individual or organisation will be allowed to cut trees or uproot plants under any excuse as this would tantamount to polluting the environment, a cognisable offence.
Seeking public support for the campaign, the DMC Korangi chairman said a clean and green ambience is equally important for public health.
“Each and every stakeholder must realise their respective responsibilities,” said Raza and directed concerned officials to also make extra efforts in raising general awareness about the issues.
