Lieutenant General Bipin Rawat was appointed as new Army Chief of India.
According to Indian media, Lt-Gen Bipin Rawat will succeed General Dalbir Singh who was retired on 31 December. Outgoing Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh formally handed over the charge to Gen Bipin Rawat.
