Medical fraternity condemns ‘VIP protocol death’

Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association (SPSWA) Central President Akhlaq Ahmed Khan on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow grief over the death of a minor girl due to VIP protocol accorded to Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah during their visit to the Civil Hospital Karachi.

The roads leading to the hospital were closed for the security of the VIPs, resulting in the tragic death of the minor girl who was deprived of emergency medical assistance.

In his statement, Akhlaq Ahmed Khan strongly condemned the death of a 10-month-old girl, Bismah, daughter of Faisal, resident of Lyari area. The ill-fated child was suffering from measles and her father was rushing her to Civil Hospital Karachi for emergency treatment but all link roads leading to the hospital were closed for the protocol and security of the VIPs. As a result, the minor girl died while waiting for opening of the roads leading to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Sindh Doctors Forum Chairman Dr Nawaz Ali Mallah also strongly condemned the death of the girl and demanded of Supreme Court of Pakistan to take a suo motu notice of the sad incident. He demanded registration of a murder FIR against the chief minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and medical superintendent of Civil Hospital Karachi.
