The Punjab government is taking solid measures to protect the rights of women, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday while addressing a meeting at Committee Room of Civil Secretariat through video-link.
He said that half of the population of Pakistan comprises of women and protection of their rights was responsibility of the state.
He said that special centres would be set up for immediate assistance of women subjected to violence, adding that these special centres would prove to be helpful in providing justice to the victim women.
He also gave approval to the first phase of steps regarding reforms in motor vehicles system.
The meeting decided to change the payment system of token tax and introducing the Dealers’ Vehicles Registration System (DVR System) for registration of new vehicles and motorcycles.
He said under DVR system, registration and number plate would be issued from dealer, adding that a vigilance cell would be set up in the Excise and Taxation Department.
He said that with the change of token tax system, special stickers would be issued to the vehicles on payment of token tax. He said facility of ATM and online would be provided for payment of token tax. He said ownership number plate would be issued to the owner of the vehicle, adding that number plate would also be changed on the change of ownership of the vehicle.
