Nawaz to visit Tharparkar on Monday

ISLAMABAD

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit the drought-hit Tharparkar District on Monday, while announcement of aid package by the federal government is also likely.

The PM has also announced to provide MI-17 helicopter for supply of necessary relief goods. He has also assured all-out cooperation to the Sindh government in this regard.

According to the PM’s spokesman, Nawaz is constantly in touch with the Sindh government. He added military leadership in Sindh was also updating the PM about relief operations.

Separately, Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed vowed to extend every possible help to the drought-affected people of Tharparkar.

In a statement, the minister assured all-out cooperation of the federal government for the relief of Thar victims.

He said that helicopters have been provided for the assistance of the affected people. He said long-term measures were being taken to help the people of Thar.

To a question, the minister said the federal government would assist the Sindh Government and would not do politics on the issue.

On a query, the senator said dialogue with Taliban was the priority of the federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had also been included in the committee.

Responding to a question, the minister said he had no information regarding the opening of a Taliban office.
