District and Sessions Judge Malir Muhammad Yameen along with judicial magistrates Nadir Khan Burdi, Naveed Asghar Sheikh, Muhammad Ali Memon, Abdul Shakoor Kalharo, Hassan Ali Kalwer and others visited district Jail Malir under the new judicial policy of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).
The DJ went round various barracks, met the prisoners and inquired about the details of pending cases in various courts, said a statement issued on Sunday.
The judge listened to prisoners’ problems and assured them of speedy justice. On the occasion, a large number of prisoners presented applications for an early hearing of their cases while others submitted applications for review of court decisions. During his visit to various barracks, six prisoners informed the district and sessions judge that they had completed their sentence but were languishing in the jail because of inability to pay the fine amount.
Saiban Chairman Haq Nawaz Akhtar paid the amount of the fines, traveling expenses and got the prisoners released.
Jail Superintendent Mirza Shuja Haider Baig, Deputy Superintendent Syed Shakir Hussain Shah, Assistant Superintendents Arshad Shah, Asif Sarfaraz, PS to DJ Malir Zubair Bin Mehmood and General Secretary Saiban Haider Ali Haider and others were also present on the occasion.
