The water crisis has aggravated in cantonment areas, including Dhok Jumma, Dhok Kalhore and other vicinities. This is a thickly populated area of the city and its population exceeds a million, yet it stands deprived of the basic amenity of clean water. “We have not received a single drop of drinking water from the cantonment board and the water supply has been disconnected for several weeks,” said a group of residents from Dhok Jumma.

“Women have to go fetch water daily from remote areas to use in kitchens, said Fazal Karim, a resident of Dhok Kalhore. “We have sent countless applications, to the authorities, for the restoration of water supply but all our entreaties have fallen flat”, said a group of house wives.
