A retired colonel, Muhammad Ali alias Saqi, was gunned down in an ambush outside Malir Garrison on Sunday. As per an intelligence agencies’ report, Saqi was heading home to Cantt Bazaar but was ambushed outside Malir Cantt Checkpost No 06, where his assailants attacked his four-wheel drive and sprayed him with bullets. His body was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Malir Cantt where doctors pronounced him dead.
Saqi lived in H-2 Area, Malir Cantt and had retired from Pakistan Army service some four years ago. He is survived by a wife, a son and four daughters. The deceased’s body was handed over to the heirs after post-mortem procedures. Malir Cantt police have impounded the vehicle, but have refused to share any information about the retired colonel.
