GUJRAT: A motorcyclist was attacked by a wild boar outside his home in Gujrat’s Shadman Colony on Sunday, in an incident reported from the Civil Lines police precincts. Rescue 1122 officials said the young man was not injured.

Residents of Kareem Street, who witnessed the episode, said the animal suddenly emerged in the street and lunged at the youth as he came out of his house on a motorcycle. They said he fell from the bike and ran to escape, while the boar chased him briefly before turning into another street.

Rescue 1122 officials said the animal was later tracked down in a street in Lalazaar Colony on Rehman Shaheed Road, where staff from the wildlife department also reached the spot. According to the rescue officials, the boar was captured and then released in the forest near the Chenab river on the directions of the wildlife department.

Following the incident, residents called for steps to prevent wild animals from entering densely populated urban neighbourhoods.
