Pakistan’s ‘Kids Fight’ wins ABU T4P Media Award in first for country

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has secured its first-ever win at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) awards, with documentary Kids Fight – A Fight for Identity taking the top prize in the People category at the 2026 ABU Together for Planet, People and Peace (T4P) Media Awards held in Paro, Bhutan.

Produced by STP Film Pakistan, Kids Fight was the only Pakistani entry in the competition and emerged victorious against more than 300 submissions from broadcasters, production houses and independent filmmakers from across the world.

The documentary was among just 26 films shortlisted for the final round of judging. It explores themes of identity, belonging and the challenges faced by vulnerable children, using personal stories to highlight wider social issues.

The awards were adjudicated by an international jury comprising independent experts from different countries. Among those involved in the judging process were senior media professionals, including the chairperson of the jury commission and representatives from leading international broadcasters such as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The ABU T4P Media Awards recognise outstanding media content that promotes sustainability, social inclusion, human development and peace through storytelling. The awards are presented annually under the themes of Planet, People and Peace.

The award ceremony took place on June 17 in Paro, Bhutan, bringing together broadcasters and media professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The victory marks a milestone for Pakistan’s media industry, with Kids Fight becoming the first Pakistani production to receive an award from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, one of the world’s largest broadcasting associations.
