KARACHI: Sea water has entered several villages in Keti Bandar after a breach in a protective embankment, displacing hundreds of families and disrupting daily life in the coastal tehsil.
The breach appeared four days ago in the protective bund of Union Council Keti Bandar. Saline water then spread into residential areas, leaving multiple settlements under water.
Villages named include Ali Bakhsh Jat, Hashim Jat and Usman Dablo. Homes in these areas have been flooded, while affected families have started moving to safer places. Residents said the water level was still rising, increasing the risk to more nearby settlements.
Locals also alleged that they had repeatedly alerted the relevant authorities about damage to the embankment and growing sea pressure, but timely action was not taken. They said preventive steps could have averted the crisis.
