PFF XI beat UN XI in Islamabad exhibition match for World Football Day
PFF XI defeated UN XI 3-1 in an exhibition match at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium to mark World Football Day. Officials said the event promoted peace, unity and support for football’s development in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Football Federation XI defeated United Nations XI 3-1 in an exhibition match at Jinnah Stadium held to mark World Football Day, in an event organised by the Pakistan Football Federation to highlight peace, unity and brotherhood through sport.
The fixture brought together diplomats, football figures and international representatives in the federal capital. Among those in attendance were United Nations Pakistan Resident Coordinator Mohamed Yahya, diplomats from France, Romania, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, Pakistan Football Federation President Syed Mohsin Gilani, Pakistan national team head coach Nolberto Solano, former Pakistan captain Essa Khan and other guests.
PFF XI take control
PFF XI controlled the match and secured victory with two goals from Shahzeb, while Essa Khan also found the net. Nnu Gibson scored the only goal for the UN XI.
The event was staged as part of World Football Day celebrations and centred on using football as a means to bring people together across nationalities and institutions.
Officials stress support for football
Speaking at the occasion, Mohamed Yahya said Pakistan has significant football talent and said the United Nations would keep backing efforts aimed at promoting and developing the sport in the country.
PFF President Syed Mohsin Gilani said football is expanding quickly in Pakistan and that the federation remains focused on creating more opportunities for young players and extending the game to all parts of the country.
The programme concluded with organisers and participants underscoring the role of sport not only as entertainment, but also as a way to encourage peace, friendship and harmony among communities and nations.
The Islamabad event combined symbolic messaging with on-field action, as football administrators, diplomats and UN representatives gathered around a match intended to reinforce the broader social value of sport.
