PCB starts process to appoint batting coach for men's white-ball team

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated the hiring process for a batting coach for the national men’s white-ball side, issuing an official advertisement on Saturday for what it described as a role for an experienced and skilled candidate.

The vacancy notice sets out a range of eligibility and professional requirements for applicants. According to the advertisement, candidates must hold at least a Level II cricket coaching accreditation and have a minimum of five years of experience in a comparable position involving elite cricketers, whether at national, franchise or international level.

The board is also seeking applicants with a strong grasp of batting methods, match analysis and player development. The advertisement further says candidates should have demonstrated experience in overseeing and assessing systems and processes used at the international level for the improvement of batting skills.

Experience and skills outlined in advertisement

In addition, the PCB has asked for experience in preparing athletes to meet international standards, along with solid planning, organisational and management abilities. The role also requires the capacity to work effectively with people from varied backgrounds.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, integrity, professionalism, persuasive communication and computer literacy are listed among the essential requirements. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and coaching software is also required, while stronger proficiency in coaching software has been mentioned as an added advantage.

Role linked to white-ball setup

According to information cited in the report, the opening is specifically for the Pakistan men’s white-ball team. The position will become vacant after the side’s three-match home One-day International series against Australia, which is scheduled to end on June 4.

The development follows the resignation of current batting coach Hanif Malik a few weeks ago. Malik is presently serving his notice period and that the upcoming home ODI series against Australia will be his final assignment in the role.

The PCB advertisement has also set a deadline for applications, with interested candidates able to submit their documents until 5pm on June 7.

The move marks the start of the board’s formal search for a new batting coach as it looks to fill a specialist role in the men’s limited-overs setup. The published criteria indicate that the PCB is targeting a candidate with both technical expertise and experience of working in high-performance environments involving top-level players.

The advertisement, as outlined in the report, places emphasis not only on batting knowledge and player development but also on administrative and communication skills, suggesting the board is looking for a coach capable of contributing across multiple aspects of the team environment.
