Firing on residence of Latif Khosa’s son in Lahore

LAHORE: Police have registered a case against two unidentified motorcyclists after gunfire was reported at the DHA residence of Supreme Court lawyer Balakh Sher Khosa, son of former Punjab governor Latif Khan Khosa.

According to the first information report lodged by Defence C police, Balakh Sher Khosa stated that two armed men arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to force their way into his house. He said the men later fired at the main gate of the residence before escaping from the scene.

In his complaint, Balakh Sher told police that the attackers also issued life threats while fleeing. He asked the police to provide security and take steps to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.

The FIR says the firing was unprovoked. Balakh Sher also told police that a similar incident had taken place earlier in 2023.

Police case lodged

The case was registered by Defence C police against two unknown suspects on charges related to the firing incident at the lawyer’s residence in Lahore’s DHA area.

Balakh Sher Khosa, identified in the FIR as a Supreme Court lawyer, requested protection in view of the threats he said were made during the attack. He also sought action for the tracing and arrest of the assailants.

The incident concerns the son of Latif Khan Khosa, the former governor of Punjab. The complaint, as recorded in the FIR, states that the armed men first tried to enter the residence and then opened fire on the main entrance.

No further details were provided in the police report made available on Sunday beyond the account contained in the FIR.

The case was reported in Lahore on Sunday, with the police proceeding against unidentified suspects named in the FIR as unknown motorcyclists.

Balakh Sher’s statement to police further noted that the latest attack was not the first such episode, as he said a similar occurrence had also taken place in 2023.

The matter is now before the police for investigation under the case registered by Defence C police.
