'Mentally unstable' man arrested for killing teen in Gujrat
A 13-year-old boy died after being attacked with an iron rod in Gujrat’s Jandala village while returning home with rotis. Police arrested the suspect and said the investigation was ongoing.

GUJRAT: Police have arrested a man accused of killing a 13-year-old boy in Jandala village after allegedly attacking him as he was on his way home from a nearby tandoor, according to details reported on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Arsalan, had been sent by his parents to buy rotis from a roadside restaurant in the area. After leaving the eatery, he was allegedly assaulted from behind by a man identified as Shakeel, a resident of Sabor village.
The suspect struck the boy on the head with an iron rod. Arsalan sustained serious injuries and was first taken to a nearby hospital. He was later referred to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The boy subsequently died from his head injury at the hospital.
Police registered a case against the suspect and later took him into custody. An investigation into the incident was underway.
The arrested man was believed to be mentally unstable.
Attack took place after boy left restaurant
The incident occurred after the teenager had gone out to bring bread for his family. He had just left the roadside restaurant in Jandala village when the alleged attack took place.
The suspect was identified as Shakeel from nearby Sabor village. Police moved to register a case after the boy’s death and arrested the accused.
Police investigation continues
Authorities were continuing their investigation following the arrest.
The case centres on the killing of a minor who had been carrying out a routine errand for his family when he was allegedly targeted. The suspect was mentally retarded.
