Two attackers killed as Frontier Corps repels assault on check post in Quetta outskirts

QUETTA: Security forces thwarted an attack on a Frontier Corps check post in the Kuchlak bypass area on Thursday, with two attackers killed in the exchange, according to police officials.

Police said armed men riding motorcycles opened fire on the FC check post in the Kuchlak bypass area, located on the outskirts of Quetta. Personnel stationed at the post responded immediately and returned fire.

Officials said a heavy gun battle then broke out between the security personnel and the assailants. The exchange of fire continued for about half an hour.

According to police, two terrorists were killed during the clash, while two Frontier Corps personnel sustained injuries.

Arms and ammunition were recovered from the attackers after the incident, police officials said. The seized items included a hand grenade.

Attack targeted check post in Kuchlak bypass area

The incident took place in the Kuchlak bypass area on the outskirts of Quetta, where the FC had established the check post that came under attack.

Police officials said the assailants arrived on motorcycles before opening fire. Security personnel deployed at the site retaliated at once, leading to a prolonged exchange.

The officials said the confrontation lasted around 30 minutes before the attackers were neutralised.

Two FC personnel injured in exchange

Alongside the deaths of the two attackers, two FC personnel were also injured in the firing, according to police.

Officials further said that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the attackers, including a hand grenade, after the assault was repelled.

The incident adds to the security challenges in Balochistan, where law enforcement and security personnel have faced attacks in different areas. In this case, police officials said the attempted assault on the check post was foiled and the attackers were killed during the exchange of fire.
