KARACHI: Karachi Kings have released Muhammad Waseem and Khuzaima bin Tanveer from their squad for the remainder of PSL 11 because of national duty commitments.
According to the franchise, both players have been called up for national assignments and will therefore not be available for the rest of the tournament.
To fill the gap left by UAE batter Muhammad Waseem, the 2020 champions have brought in England opener Jason Roy as his replacement. The franchise said Roy’s arrival is aimed at strengthening the batting unit, with the right-hander known for his aggressive approach and extensive T20 experience.
In a social media post, the Kings said: "Welcoming England's destructive opener Jason Roy to the [Kings Squad]. He joins the squad as a replacement for Muhammad Waseem." The franchise also said that a replacement for Khuzaima bin Tanveer would be announced later.
Roy’s inclusion adds an experienced option to the Karachi Kings squad. The 35-year-old has already played in the Pakistan Super League, representing Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators over six seasons. Across 38 PSL matches, he has scored 1,260 runs at an average of 36.00 and a strike rate of 146.51, including two centuries and eight half-centuries.
He also holds the record for the highest individual score in PSL history. That innings came in the 2023 edition, when he made 145 not out for Quetta Gladiators against Peshawar Zalmi.
