21 arrested in Muzaffargarh for lodging false FIRs

MUZAFFARGARH: Police in Muzaffargarh have begun action against people accused of registering fabricated First Information Reports at police stations in different parts of the district, according to a police spokesman.

The spokesman said Muzaffargarh Saddar police and Chowk Sarwar Shaheed city police launched a crackdown targeting complainants and witnesses who were found to be involved in filing false cases.

According to the spokesman, action was taken in 21 cases after investigations found the allegations made by the complainants to be untrue. The cases involved serious accusations, including rape, kidnapping and other offences, which police said were later found to be baseless during the inquiry process.

Police action in two areas

The spokesman said four complainants from Chowk Sarwar Shaheed were taken into custody, while 17 others were arrested by Saddar police.

The action was carried out after police investigations concluded that the claims made in the relevant FIRs were false, the spokesman added.

The development relates to police stations across the district, where authorities said they had identified cases in which complainants and witnesses were allegedly involved in lodging fabricated reports.

Officials said the crackdown was conducted by Muzaffargarh Saddar police and Chowk Sarwar Shaheed city police as part of action against those found responsible for filing false criminal cases.
