Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at the age of 92, marking the end of a career that spanned decades in Bollywood and classical music.

She breathed her last after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital following a heart attack, with multiple complications later leading to organ failure.

Asha Bhosle was known for singing in numerous hit films including Teesri Manzil, Caravan, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Ijaazat and Saagar, with songs such as Sharara, Radha Kaise Na Jale, Le Gai, Pyar Hmara Amar Rahega and Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali.

She was the sister of Lata Mangeshkar, another prominent figure in Indian music, and was widely recognised for her contributions to the industry.

Her son confirmed her death and said that her last rites will be performed tomorrow.
