MQM-P chief says Pakistan’s diplomacy has advanced global peace efforts

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, along with expected negotiations in Islamabad, amounts to Pakistan’s contribution to global peace.

In a statement, Dr Siddiqui praised the Government of Pakistan and the country’s decision-making institutions for what he described as a historic achievement. He said Pakistan had once again shown its strategic relevance and diplomatic capability by helping bring two global powers to the negotiating table.

According to Dr Siddiqui, the development demonstrated that Pakistan was not merely observing regional affairs from the sidelines, but was instead playing a leading role in efforts aimed at preserving peace.

Pakistan’s role highlighted

Dr Siddiqui said Islamabad’s emergence as a venue for peace efforts reflected Pakistan’s responsible approach in dealing with serious international crises. He said the development underscored the country’s capacity to contribute meaningfully at a time of heightened tensions.

He said the absence of a ceasefire could have had serious consequences for the global economy as well as stability in the Middle East. He added that Pakistan’s political and military leadership had acted together at a moment when the world was close to conflict, and in doing so had helped point the way toward peace.

He further said the choice of Islamabad as the venue for anticipated negotiations showed international confidence in Pakistan’s neutrality and credibility.

Praise for civilian and military leadership

The MQM-P chief also commended Field Marshal General Asim Munir, saying his leadership had helped shape both defence and diplomatic strategy. Dr Siddiqui said this had conveyed a clear message internationally that Pakistan was the region’s foremost advocate of peace.

He also praised the prime minister, the foreign minister and the military leadership for their role in the process. Dr Siddiqui described the development as the start of a new and promising phase in Pakistan’s foreign policy. Dr Siddiqui said Pakistan has once again demonstrated its strategic importance and diplomatic skill by bringing two global powers to the negotiating table, proving that the country is not merely a spectator in the region but its foremost guarantor of peace.

He maintained that Islamabad becoming a centre for peace reflected Pakistan’s responsible role in addressing major global challenges. He said the latest diplomatic progress should be seen as a significant moment for the country’s standing in international affairs.

Dr Siddiqui’s remarks came as he welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran and referred to the anticipated talks in Islamabad as a positive step for regional and global stability.
