Eid brings hope for estranged families as emotional reunions arranged for parents and children

RAWALPINDI: On the second day of Eidul Fitr, special sessions were organized at the Judicial Complex Facilitation Centre, enabling children to meet their divorced parents, with permission from the Senior Civil Judge of Rawalpindi.

A total of 134 divorced couples attended, accompanied by extended family members, including grandparents and close relatives. Children arrived in festive attire and eagerly reunited with their separated parents, creating deeply emotional moments. Mothers were seen embracing, feeding, and showering affection on their children, while some repeated kisses and cuddles highlighted the joy of the reunions.

The children received Eidi in the form of cash, clothes, shoes, and gifts, along with refreshments including pizza, juice, cake, and ice cream. Families captured selfies and photos to commemorate the day. The sessions ran from 10am to 3pm under the judge’s directives. Despite the public holiday, the centre remained open, and a strong police presence ensured the gatherings proceeded safely.

Children such as Kashif, Naina, and Ferguson expressed happiness at meeting their parents and receiving gifts. Officials also noted that divorces linked to marriages formed through social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook have risen in recent years.
