One killed, another injured in separate police encounters in Karachi

KARACHI: One person was killed and another sustained injuries in two separate police encounters in Karachi, according to officials on Thursday.

Police stated that the first incident took place in the Manghopir area, where a suspect was killed during an exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel. According to police, the deceased individual was allegedly involved in criminal activities. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Authorities said that further investigation is underway to ascertain the suspect’s identity and criminal record.

In a separate incident, another encounter occurred in the Korangi area, resulting in one suspect being injured. Police reported that the injured suspect was taken into custody and shifted to a hospital for treatment. Officials added that weapons were recovered from the suspects in both incidents.

Police said that both encounters were the result of routine patrolling and efforts to curb street crime in the city. They further stated that cases have been registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects’ involvement in previous criminal cases.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing operations against criminal elements in Karachi, emphasizing that such actions are part of ongoing efforts to improve law and order in the metropolis.
