Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi pledges improved education and job opportunities for youth

KARACHI: Newly appointed Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi has pledged to enhance educational and employment prospects for the province's youth, highlighting the federal government's commitment to supporting young people in Sindh. Speaking at his first press conference following his oath-taking ceremony in Karachi on Sunday, Hashmi outlined his vision for youth development in the region.

Addressing the media, Hashmi stated, “It is of immense joy that we will bring the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) to Sindh as well, with cooperation.” He emphasized that he had communicated with PMYP Sindh Coordinator Fahad Shafiq to ensure that “employment, education and training opportunities provided to Pakistan’s youth will also be extended here [in Sindh].”

The governor elaborated that the initiatives would go beyond the youth programme and computer training, promising a “comprehensive subject and chapter on education.” He assured that all certifications would be completed within their designated timelines and that degrees would be awarded promptly.

In addition to educational and employment initiatives, Hashmi announced a new welfare measure for the community. Starting Monday, free Sehri and Iftar meals will be offered at the Governor House for those in need. He described this initiative as a step towards supporting the deserving segments of society during the holy month.

Hashmi’s remarks underscore the federal government’s intention to collaborate with provincial authorities to address youth-related challenges in Sindh, focusing on both skill development and timely academic recognition. The governor’s statements reflect a broader commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare in the province.
