Israeli strike on Lebanese clinic kills 12 medical workers amid diplomatic efforts

BEIRUT: An Israeli airstrike overnight targeted a healthcare centre in Borj Qalaouiya, southern Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 Lebanese medical personnel, according to Lebanon’s state news agency on Saturday.

The Lebanese health ministry stated that the death toll is preliminary, as rescue teams continue to search for individuals who remain missing under the rubble. The ministry confirmed that the victims included doctors, paramedics, and nurses who were working at the facility at the time of the attack.

This incident brings the total number of paramedics killed in Lebanon since the onset of hostilities to 31, a figure highlighted by the health ministry. The strike comes amid heightened diplomatic activity, with France offering to host negotiations in Paris and urging Israel to halt its offensive.
