ISLAMABAD: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ruled that appointments made under the deceased quota prior to its earlier verdict remain valid, according to a report in The Express Tribune.
The court clarified that its previous decision, which had declared certain aspects of the deceased quota policy as unlawful, would not affect appointments that were completed before the judgment was issued. The SHC stated that such appointments would continue to be considered legitimate and would not be subject to cancellation or review based on the subsequent ruling.
The deceased quota policy allows the appointment of family members of government employees who have died during service. The SHC's clarification came in response to queries regarding the status of individuals who were hired under this quota before the court's earlier decision.
The court emphasized that its verdict would not have a retrospective effect. This means that all appointments made before the judgment would remain intact, while only future appointments would be subject to the new legal interpretation.
The clarification is expected to provide relief to those who were appointed under the deceased quota prior to the court's decision, ensuring that their employment status remains secure.
