KARACHI: Large swarms of mosquitoes have become a significant nuisance for residents across the city, prompting widespread calls for immediate action from civic authorities.
According to local residents, the mosquito infestation has intensified in recent days, affecting daily life and raising health concerns. Many citizens have reported increased mosquito bites and expressed fears about the potential spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
Community members have urged the relevant municipal departments to conduct urgent fumigation drives in affected areas. Residents stated that the situation has become unbearable, especially during the evening hours when mosquito activity peaks. They emphasized the need for a coordinated response to control the mosquito population and prevent possible outbreaks of diseases such as dengue and malaria.
One resident said, "We are unable to sit outside in the evenings due to the sheer number of mosquitoes. Immediate fumigation is necessary to protect public health." Others echoed similar concerns, stressing that children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable.
Civic authorities have been asked to take swift action by deploying fumigation teams and ensuring that stagnant water sources, which serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes, are eliminated. Residents also called for regular monitoring and maintenance to prevent future infestations.
The current mosquito problem has highlighted the importance of timely preventive measures, especially as the weather changes and conditions become more favorable for mosquito breeding. Citizens are hopeful that authorities will respond promptly to their appeals and implement effective solutions to address the issue.
