Cyber law crucial for boosting digital investment, says IT minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr. Umar Saif has emphasized the importance of robust cyber laws to foster digital investment in Pakistan.
Speaking at an event, Dr. Saif highlighted that the government has digitised more than 32 public services, making them accessible to citizens through various digital platforms. He noted that this move is part of a broader initiative to streamline government procedures and improve public access to essential services.
The minister further stated that documents issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) are now available through mobile applications. This development aims to enhance convenience for the public and promote the use of digital solutions in everyday transactions.
Dr. Saif underscored that the implementation of comprehensive cyber laws is vital for attracting both local and foreign investment in the country’s digital sector. He pointed out that clear regulations and legal frameworks are necessary to ensure the security of digital transactions and to build investor confidence.
According to Dr. Saif, the government is committed to advancing the digital ecosystem in Pakistan. He reiterated that the digitisation of public services and the introduction of accessible NADRA documents are significant steps towards this goal.
