DERA GHAZI KHAN: District Police Officer (DPO) Sadiq Baloch has suspended twelve police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Wahowa police station, over allegations of facilitating wheat smuggling.
According to official sources, the action was initiated following a report submitted by sensitive institutions, which indicated that police officials were involved in aiding the illegal transportation of wheat. Upon receiving the report, DPO Sadiq Baloch acted promptly, suspending the implicated officers and ordering a departmental inquiry to investigate the matter further.
The suspended officials comprise sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables, and constables. The DPO emphasized a strict stance on such issues, stating, "there was zero-tolerance in such cases and no one would be considered above the law."
This development comes amid ongoing efforts by authorities to curb wheat smuggling, which poses challenges to local supply and food security. The departmental inquiry will determine the extent of involvement of the suspended officers and recommend further action as necessary.
The police department has reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that any personnel found complicit in illegal activities will face strict consequences. Further updates are expected as the inquiry progresses.
