Civilian killed, police officer injured in gun attack in Lakki Marwat

Lakki Marwat: A civilian lost his life and a police constable was injured when armed assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on a police patrol in Serai Naurang town of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, according to police officials.

A police official confirmed that the incident took place in Serai Naurang, stating that “a gun battle between the police and the assailants erupted after the firing attack.” Following the exchange, the body of the civilian and the injured police officer were transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Serai Naurang.

The attack comes amid heightened security concerns in Lakki Marwat, which has experienced a series of militant assaults on police and security forces in recent years. The district, along with neighboring Bannu and North Waziristan, has seen a notable increase in attacks, many of which have been attributed to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Police patrols, checkpoints, and stations have frequently been the targets of such incidents.

This latest shooting follows a bomb explosion in the same area just a day earlier, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left ten others injured.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack as security forces remain on alert in the region.
