Pakistan’s services exports rise 18.78% in July-January FY26, led by IT sector

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s services exports recorded an 18.78 percent increase in the first seven months of the fiscal year 2025-26, according to data compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The growth was primarily attributed to higher earnings from the information technology sector.

From July 2025 to January 2026, the export of services reached $5.66 billion, up from $4.76 billion during the same period in the previous year, sources said. The services sector has shown consistent growth since the beginning of FY26, contrasting with mixed trends observed in commodity exports.

Monthly data revealed that services exports rose by 18.27 percent year-on-year in July, followed by increases of 8.41 percent in August, 14.85 percent in September, 17.61 percent in October, 22.26 percent in November, 15.94 percent in December, and 31.12 percent in January.

The main driver of this growth has been the telecommunication, computer, and information services categories, which have shown significant improvement since July FY26 compared to the previous year.

In rupee terms, the value of services exports increased by 20.22 percent, reaching Rs1.593 trillion in the first seven months of FY26, according to official data.

Officials noted that the continuous expansion in the services sector has contributed positively to the country’s overall export performance, despite fluctuations in other export categories.
