LAHORE: Pakistani singer turned politician Jawad Ahmed has come under heavy criticism online after an outburst at a journalist during a podcast interview with GNN studios which escalated into a him shouting and abusing, eventually ending with the anchor being asked to leave.
Clips from the interview circulating on social media show the discussion initially proceeding normally before taking a sharp turn when the conversation touched on former prime minister Imran Khan. Jawad Ahmed appeared visibly irritated at the mention and quickly interrupted the journalist.
“Imran Khan ki tou mainay baat he nahi karni thi, wo ghatya admi hai, uski main baat kyun karun?” he said during the exchange.
The situation intensified when Jawad accused the journalist of interrupting him and questioned his role in the conversation. “Aap mera interview karnay aye hain ya main apka interview karnay aya hun? Aap chup kar k bethain,” he said, adding at one point, “Aap bakwas kar rahay hain iss waqt.”
Despite attempts by the journalist to calm the situation and continue the discussion, Jawad Ahmed’s tone grew more aggressive. In another moment captured on video, he reportedly referred to the journalist as a “do-takay ka sahafi” and challenged him to air the interview if he wished.
The tense confrontation eventually ended with Jawad asking the journalist to leave the space. According to footage from the set, the singer-politician walked out shortly afterward, leaving others present visibly surprised by the sudden escalation.
The incident has since gone viral across social media platforms, where users have been debating both the exchange itself and the broader issue of professionalism during live interviews.
Some commenters claimed the outburst was not entirely surprising. “Sab ko pata hai Jawad Ahmed short tempered hai,” one user wrote.
Others were more critical of his conduct. One comment read, “Jahil aadmi hay, illaj ki zaroorat hay,” while another wrote, “Ye Jawad do taakka ka insan khud hai.”
