Akkakhel Qaumi Council Urges Evacuation Amid Rising Security Concerns

The Akkakhel Qaumi Council has voiced grave concerns regarding the worsening security situation in the Akkakhel area of Khyber, urging authorities to arrange for the evacuation of local residents. The call for action was made during a meeting with district administration officials on Tuesday.

Council members met with Assistant Commissioner Bara, Talha Rafiq Alam, to highlight the rapidly deteriorating security conditions. The council pointed to a surge in militant attacks targeting security check posts and subsequent retaliatory actions by security forces as key factors contributing to the instability.

During the meeting, the council requested that authorities establish registration points for affected families in consultation with senior council members. They also emphasized the need for comprehensive support and facilities for those displaced by the ongoing violence.

The recent escalation in terrorist activities has left local residents exposed to artillery shelling aimed at militant hideouts. Additionally, an abandoned security check post in the area has reportedly been seized by armed militants affiliated with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the current situation in Akkakhel has caused significant distress among the population, prompting the council to seek urgent intervention from the authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

The district administration has not yet publicly responded to the council’s demands. The Akkakhel Qaumi Council continues to press for immediate measures to address the security challenges and facilitate the evacuation process for affected families.
